FLUTTER KICK WITH POINTY & FLOPPY TOES
Pointy and floppy feet
Kick plays major role in body balance.
Swimmer should point their toes always, this will reduce the drag and help you to swim faster. And if you don’t point your toes, no matter how good catch you got it will still slow you down. If you kick without pointing your toes actually you will push the water forwards which means your arms and feet working for opposite direction and then most Common question will come in your mind,
Coach “ WHY I’M TOO SLOW”😭😭😭
Kick from the hip:
In good flutter kick the legs are straight while swimmer is kicking from the hips with slight bend(very little) in the knees with flexible ankles.
Many swimmers bend their knees too much and kicking from the knees. This creates large amounts of drag and is probably the number one reason for a swimmer's legs to sink down in the water(second reason is head position). Instead of kicking from the knees swimmer should kick from the hip with straight legs. So make sure you kick with the straight leg and don’t kick from the knees because it creates hell of drag!
Ankle Flexibility
Ankle flexibility pay very vital role in your effective flutter kick. If you are kicking with flexible ankles your feet will work like flippers and gives you more propulsion in the water.
Please note while doing flutter kick your legs shouldn't go wider and out of your streamlined body position.
